The CDR XL radio family can quantify signal strengths observed with the QuerySigStr and SweepFreq commands. These signal strengths are reported as a 10 bit number (0-1023). The relationship between measured signal strength and signal power (measured in dBm) is generally linear and can be approximated according to the following function:
dBm = 0.158 * SigStr – 181
If required, you can achieve a more precise conversion between signal strength and signal power by using linear interpolation. The raw data is shown on the following graph:
