Addressed Protocols

Some application-level protocols, such as Modbus , include a device address in the protocol. Each device (not the radio, but the application device attached to the radio) is assigned an address and requests specify not only what is to be done, but also which device is to do it.

When using an addressed protocol, you can safely assign the same location code to every radio. This makes every transmission a broadcast and relies on the protocol to filter out requests that are intended for other recipients.
